Boeing expands in Poland with new engineering centers

The move is seen as an important boost to local employment and technological advancement, strengthening Poland’s role in the global aerospace industry.

New jobs created by Boeing in it facilities in the capital Warsaw, the Baltic port city of Gdańsk and the southeastern city of Rzeszów will focus on civil and defense projects, including structural and software engineering.

David L. Calhoun, President and CEO of Boeing, noted Poland’s potential to contribute globally to aviation through innovative research and development, supported by government initiatives.

Honorata Hencel, Boeing Director for Poland and Ukraine, emphasized the company’s long presence in Poland, dating back 35 years, and noted the strategic role of the new engineering complex in Warsaw, open to connect with customers and local Boeing partners.

Linda Hapgood, Vice President at Boeing, who oversees Boeing Engineering Poland & Ukraine, described the opening of the new engineering center in Poland as a logical step.

“Poland is home to many of our customers and industry, academic and research partners, including the esteemed Łukasiewicz Aviation Institute,” said Hapgood.

“But more importantly, we found the essential skills needed for our engineering projects here,” she added.

Polish Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda emphasized the importance of Boeing’s role amid the ongoing Russian occupation of Ukraine, praising the company’s decision to open an engineering center in Warsaw.

He expressed satisfaction with Boeing’s engagement of Polish engineering talent and the establishment of deep business roots in Poland, enhancing not only national but also European security.

Bejda also highlighted America’s strategic presence in global peace efforts and Poland’s involvement in NATO and the EU, citing future improvements in Poland’s defense capabilities, including the introduction of AH-64 Apache helicopters and discussions about F-15 platforms and helicopters. Boeing’s engineering operations in Poland include the main office in Rzeszów, focusing on mechanical and electrical engineering and customer support; the Gdańsk division, specializing in software, systems engineering and avionics; and Warsaw teams working on manufacturing engineering and material testing.

Boeing also maintains several other divisions throughout Poland, cooperating extensively with local suppliers, universities and research centers.
